Unquestionably the most important shot in pool is the break shot. The break sets the tone for the rest of the game and often times the player breaking is the player who wins the game.
The reason why is the player who makes a ball off the break maintains control of the table. Whoever controls the table wins the game, since no one can win a pool game sitting in their chair. This is true whether you’re a professional capable of running 3 racks in a row or a beginner who can only make a few balls before needing to play safe.
